Book Reviews

Recently, I’ve been surfing webs a lot! That means I’m kept away from my books. But, I will try to write some more reviews for books I have read so far.

  1. People’s History of the United States

Howard Zinn, Ph.D.

ISBN: 0-06-083865-5

            978-0-06-083865-5

Believe me, it is a good book! Even before I came, I heard a lot about the United States. Well, of course, it is wonderful country. However, there are two Americas. You would not believe if I tell you that the United States committed several (seriously) war crimes, and violated human rights.

For instance, most of us know Christopher Columbus. Of course, he was the one who is supposedly believed to be the explorer of Americas (North and South). In fact, he was not looking for America Continents. He set sail to find legendary Marco Polo’s “Silk Road” in order to trade with China via Persian territories and India. He failed, and by chance, he met natives of Americas. Then, he reported King and Queen of Spain that he found India!

Zinn, as he is a fundamentalist, depicts lies and crimes of so-called explorer in People’s History of the United States. His excellent writing style and imaginative composition skill make his book perfect. If you haven’t read it, I encourage you to try! You will feel “awakened”, I promise.
